Dynamic husband and wife duo Bo and Chanel are bringing their extremely unique ‘Bogan Yoga’ experience to the Newtown Festival this Sunday.
The concept was born when Bo and Chanel met in Phuket, Thailand in 2011. Bo had been stationed there for some time running a reputable bodyboard importing business (he had previously been based in Bali, but moved away after receiving some unwanted attention in 2004). Chanel had only planned to stay in Phuket for a Hen’s weekend, but when her and Bo shared their first bucket of Coronas, there was no turning back.
Having learnt Yoga at the Cronulla Fitness First, Chanel quickly introduced her new lover to the craft. “It really helped me with my old Rugby League injury”, explains Bo, “after a big night on the sauce with the boys, I tried a cab bolt but slipped on my own spew and did me back in.”
Now back on their native soil, Bo and Chanel are keen to take yoga away from suburban mums and quinoa eaters by creating a more ‘Australian’ approach to ancient practice. In the words of Chanel; “What’s wrong with just having a stretch while you down a few tins?”
